The business "Liberty Speed " which is owned by Brian McCosker commenced in 1975 as an Automotive and Mechanical Engineering Business. A short time later, in 1978 Brian ventured into boat racing - in the 6 Litre Injected class,
sharing a boat with long time friend Mal McColl. The focus of the business was in
Ski Racing, Lane Racing, Speedway, Motocross, and in general - building engines for all forms of motor sport and also for street registered cars.
After years of research and development with metals, heat transfer, swirl
affects and flow, 1997 saw the release of the McCoy Cylinder Head which is
built and machined specifically for the small block Chevrolet, yet utilises
the technology of the Buick style symmetrical ports which eliminates the
typical exhaust overheating in the middle cylinders which occurs on the
Chevrolet with the 2 exhaust ports being side by side.
The business and boat racing have continued to grow and improve
simultaneously with Brian now racing the very popular and successful Blown Alcohol Displacement Boat "Liberty",
taking out all of the major Australian Races over the years and recently
winning the inaugural World Cup.
The business known in it's
current form as "Liberty Speed" is still focused on serving the racing community including
Circuit Race Boats, Ski Race Boats, Sprint Cars, Drag Cars and in general,
the Performance Engine.
